Bus-loads of hope

Vehicles wanted!

Your bus for humanitarian transports within Ukraine

Donation receipt for cash donations possible (Germany)

In brief:

  • We seek to acquire buses urgently to evacuate refugees from war zones of Ukraine, particularly those with intense fighting, to provide transport within Ukraine to the borders.
  • Those buses are used exclusively for humanitarian purposes. The transport of passengers and the transport of humanitarian goods are free of charge.
  • Only people who lack the financial means to pay for the (often expensive) journey within Ukraine are evacuated.
  • You can support these people both with a bus and with a monetary donation for the purchase and use of the buses.
  • The project passed the first stress test on March 10th and handed over the first two buses on Ukrainian territory. You can follow our live blog here.

Bus-load of hope:

  • We seek to acquire buses urgently to evacuate refugees from war zones of Ukraine, particularly those with intense fighting, to provide transport within Ukraine to the borders.
  • According to UNHCR data (latest: 18.03.2022), there are are now an estimated 6.5 million people internally displaced inside Ukraine (UNHCR SITUATION FLASH UPDATE #4 18.03.2022).  3,489,644 have left Ukraine since 24.02.2022 (UNHCR, 20.03.2022).
  • Those buses are used exclusively for humanitarian purposes. The transport of passengers and – if necessary/possible – the transport of goods are free of charge.
  • The project passed the first stress test on March 10th and handed over the first two buses on Ukrainian territory. These are now in use as shuttles between Kyiv and Lviv. We are currently busy preparing the next bus delivery (Status 21.03.2022). As long as this website is online, more buses and more support is urgently needed. You can find our live blog here.
  • In addition to purchasing and transporting the buses to Ukraine, we also provide funds for operations in Ukraine (diesel, maintenance/spare parts). Otherwise, the deployment would only be possible with significant delays.
  • Long-range, intercity buses or coaches are best suited.
  • City buses (omnibuses; no swivel buses) are suitable too - however they should be suitable for use on poor country-roads.
  • Equally helpful are vans (e.g. Sprinter long version), to transport humanitarian goods within Ukraine.
  • Our partner organization, the Ukraine Charity Foundation Source of Revival (CFSR - a sub-division of the International Chamber of Commerce Ukraine, ICC), draws on a proven network of volunteers to drive and maintain vehicles and provide "last mile logistics".
  • Any bus/coach should be ready to drive. A valid technical inspection is helpful but not a must.
  • Vehicles will be bought from you (incl. purchase contract), though we have only minimal financial means.

Bus contribution:

If you can contribute a bus:

  1. Get in touch: if you have one or more potential buses in your portfolio then get in touch with us via this form:
    >> submit your vehicle HERE <<
  2. Collection: we organize the collection of the buses from you.
  3. Takeover: we buy the buses with a purchase contract.
  4. Transport to Ukraine: our partners will deliver the buses/coaches to Ukraine.*
  5. Onward transport within Ukraine: from the Ukrainian border, the buses are brought to the destination of use by our Ukrainian partner organization CFSR/ICC.
  6. Project monitoring: CFSR is responsible for project monitoring in Ukraine and will acknowledge your support with appropriate image and video material.
  7. Use of the vehicles after the war: We cannot guarantee that buses are returned (if renting would be an option for you). It is also not possible to insure buses in war zones. However, we ensure that the buses/coaches will continue to serve humanitarian purposes. We expect that there will be a significant need for means of transport after the war. Otherwise, the buses can later be sold at market price, and the sales proceeds will be used for humanitarian purposes.

* Whenever possible, buses will take supplies to Ukraine on their way there.

* If you could support us in delivering the vehicles to the Ukrainian border, that would significantly accelerate the deployment to where the buses are needed.

Donation:

If you can support with cash:
